Kauai County Booking Releases Request Process

You can request a Kauai County booking release in four ways: in person, by written mail, by UIPA letter, or online through eCrim. Each channel has its own fee and wait time.

A written mail request to KPD must include the completed records request form, a copy of a valid government-issued photo ID, a list of the records you want, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and payment for any fees. Write "UIPA Request" on the envelope and cite Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 92F as the legal basis. Give a clear record description and your contact info. See oip.hawaii.gov for the full UIPA rules.

Online name-based checks run through eCrim at ecrim.ehawaii.gov. Each unique search is $5. A certified report is $12. eCrim shows adult conviction info only. The standard staff-run criminal history check costs $30 through the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center. See ag.hawaii.gov/hcjdc/criminal-history-records-check for the form.

What Kauai County Booking Releases Contain

Kauai County booking releases follow the standard state format under Hawaii Revised Statutes section 846-2.5. Each record includes the arrestee's full legal name, any aliases, date of birth, gender, race, ethnicity, and physical markers. The file holds the State Identification Number, or SID, and the FBI number when one is assigned. Other fields cover the date, time, and location of the arrest, the charge codes and charge names, the arresting agency, the badge number, the booking photo, and the fingerprint impressions.

The record also shows the custody status and the case disposition once the court decides the case. The level of detail can change based on the stage of the case and which Kauai County agency holds the file. Records that a court seals or expunges drop out of public view.

Kauai County Booking Releases Data Fields

Each Kauai County booking release holds a standard set of fields under Hawaii Revised Statutes section 846-2.5. The record lists the arrestee's full legal name, any aliases on file, date of birth, gender, race, and physical markers. The State Identification Number, or SID, ties the file to any prior Hawaii arrest. The FBI number ties the record to federal history if one is on file. Officers enter fingerprint impressions under Hawaii Revised Statutes section 846-3, and those prints move into the AFIS system at the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center.

Arrest detail fields list the date, time, and location of the stop or booking. Charge codes match the section of the Hawaii Revised Statutes cited by the officer. A short charge name follows the code. The arresting agency, the badge number, and the case disposition round out the custody chain. Kauai County records must stay accurate under Hawaii Revised Statutes section 846-9.
